Evolving Control for Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs)
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper further explores the use of a genetic algorithm for the purposes of evolving the control systems for distributed micro aerial vehicles (MAVs). The control systems are essentially evolved rule sets which take into account target surveillance area coverage and built in sensors in the MAV. As in previous work where the overall task is distributed, the same rule set is contained in each MAV. The primary extension to previous work is to make the MAV representation and fitness function evaluation more realistic for a more useful rule set evolution. Secondary extensions would be to parallelize the rule set evolution process.

This paper presents Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs) and their cooperative systems including Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) and a Base Station (BS), which were primarily designed for the 1st US-Asian Demonstration and Assessment on Micro-Aerial and Unmanned Ground Vehicle Technology (MAV08). The MAVs are of coaxial design, which imparts mechanical stability both outdoor and indoor while obeying a ...
متن کاملNUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF MAVs FLAPPING WINGS IN UNSTEADY CONDITIONS
Today, Flapping Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAV) are used in many different applications. Reynolds Number for this kind of aerial vehicle is about 104 ~ 105 which shows dominancy of inertial effects in comparison of viscous effects in flow field except adjacent of the solid boundaries. Due to periodic flapping stroke, fluid flow is unsteady. In addition, these creatures have some complexities in kin...

ground robot team is because both micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) and micro ground vehicles (MGVs) are limited in their ability to search and transport objects or complete complex missions. The payload of MAVs is relatively small and they have difficulty in transporting objects; the speed of MGVs is relatively slow for performing rescue missions. We overcome this limitation by using the cooperatio...

Employing a group of independently controlled flying micro air vehicles (MAVs) for aerial coverage missions, instead of a single flying robot, increases the robustness and efficiency of the missions. Designing a group of MAVs requires addressing new challenges, such as inter-robot collision avoidance and formation control, where individual’s knowledge about the relative location of their local ...
متن کاملLarge sensors with adaptive shape realised by self-stabilised compact groups of micro aerial vehicles
Challenges and ideas of using large compact groups of Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs) for realization of antenna-like sensing devices with flexible shape, which may be adaptively changed based on the currently sensed properties of the scanned medium is presented in this paper. This approach enables to use very simple, light-weight and cheap sensors carried onboard of UAVs and cooperatively deploy ...
